Green Bonds: Financing a Low Carbon Future

Many recognize climate change poses a major risk to global assets. Transitioning to a low-carbon economy is an opportunity for economic growth. Asset owners and managers are reevaluating their allocations of carbon intensive industries/companies and are seeking to shift ownership to more sustainable options.

Key takeaways:

  • Following the Paris Agreement asset managers and owners are increasingly reevaluating their allocations to carbon intensive industries and companies.
  • The Green Bond market has grown rapidly over the past few years as supranational, government, and corporate issuers have issued bonds to finance much-needed investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency, mass transportation and other environmentally beneficial projects.
  • This finance instrument supports the transition to a lower carbon economy while providing investors greener alternatives.
  • Green Bond indices, such as the S&P Green Bond Index, help asset managers benchmark Green Bond funds and create Green Bond ETFs and Structured Products.

A great event to boost your success – the FWA Way!
